Nickel fluoride tetrahydrate

Nickel fluoride is a water insoluble Nickel source and an ionic compound of nickel and fluorine. It forms yellowish to green tetragonal crystals.

Unlike many fluorides, NiF2 is stable in air.

Applications

  • For use in oxygen-sensitive applications, such as metal production.
  • In the surface passivation, forming nickel alloys in the presence of hydrogen fluoride or elemental fluorine,
  • As a catalyst for the synthesis of chlorine pentafluoride.


Shelf Life

Under proper storage conditions, the shelf life is 12 months
