Vinyl toluene

Vinyl toluene (VT) is a defined mixture of methyl styrene isomers (meta and para) suitable for many different applications including coatings, polyester resins, adhesives, paper coatings and insulation resins. Partially or totally Vinyl toluene can replace Styrene in the coating and resins formulations. Studies show that VT has a better toxicological profile compared to styrene.

Applications

  • Vinyl toluene can be used in any formulation in which styrene is commonly used, like alkyds and unsatured polyester resins (UPR).
  • It helps to improve chemical and physical properties of the coating: improved drying characteristics, higher temperature stability, less shrinkage, improved caustic resistance and improved acid resistance.
  • Vinyl toluene also is less volatile than styrene, thus it helped in reducing emissions helps to meet national regulations on working place concentrations.

Shelf Life
