Oleamide is a fatty acid primary amide derived from oleic acid. It is a colorless waxy solid which is suggested as a slip additive in polyolefin applications. It often forms a thin lubricating layer to reduce the coefficient of friction, preventing any unwanted adhesion. It provides high slip, mold & torque release and shows composite lubrication, scuff- and scratch resistance.


  • Oleamide is a non-ionic surfactant and is white powder-like or granule-like at room temperature. It is nontoxic, insoluble in water and soluble in hot ethanol, ether other organic solvents.
  • Oleamide has special internal and external lubrication effect and is relative stable to heat, oxygen, and ultraviolet. 
  • It has various kinds of properties including anti-adhesive, waterproof, slipping, leveling, moisture-proof, anti-static electricity, anti-settling, anti-fouling, and dispersion.
  • Its effects of anti-sticking, anti-static and dispersion are very strong with no hydroscopic property.

Main Applications

  • Oleamide have long been the best-known standard lubricants in polymer processing and are well accepted as slip and antiblock additives over the service life of plastics.
  • Synthetic oleamide has a variety of industrial uses including as a slip agent, a lubricant, and a corrosion inhibitor. The slip and antiblock effects of Oleamide are confined to finished plastic parts, often from the range of polyolefins. Slip properties enable two surfaces to slide more smoothly over each other, e.g. for easier opening of screw tops. In contrast, antiblock properties reduce the adhesion of two surfaces. This provides for easier handling, as is often desired when we try to open plastic film packaging.
  •  It is an Anti-scratch Agent.

Other Applications

  • Oleamide has been used as a supplement in glucose and galactose media to prevent the rescue of galactose-induced Leigh syndrome (LS).
  • In studies, Oleamide’s anti-inflammatory effect has been proven over nervous and immune systems since they are often cross regulated. Oleamide inhibits the proliferation of lymphocytes that play an important role in the specific immune response
  • Oleamide was identified in the sticking plaster in personal and healthcare products such as, sanitary articles, sterile gauze, bandages, nappies etc.
  • Oleamide can also be used as metal protecting agent.

Shelf Life

Under proper storage conditions, the shelf life is 12 months.
