Cetylpyridinium Chloride is a cationic quaternary pyridinium compound used as antimicrobial and cationic surfactant in various cosmetic products. It is a safe, effective & eco-friendly alternative to conventional antimicrobials and preservatives, a broad spectrum antimicrobial, efficacious against gram + and gram – bacteria, virus and fungi and US FDA approved as safe and preferred anti-microbial system for use in oral care and treat plaque including gingivitis.
Cetylpyridinium Chloride is recommended to replace preservatives like Trichlosan, Triclorocarban, Benzethonium chloride, Parabens and Formaldehyde donors, which are considered toxic and/or carcinogenic. It is a multifunctional active ingredient that can be used in different applications:
Antimicrobial: Helps slow the growth of microorganisms on the skin and inhibits the growth of microbes
Deodorant: Reduces or masks unpleasant body odors
Oral hygiene agent: Provides cosmetic effects to the oral cavity (cleaning, deodorization and protection)
Can be used alone or in combination with other preservatives to increase effectiveness.

Efficacy
