Preservatives
Elixi-KON OC, o-Cymen-5-ol, is a preservative active used in cosmetics and beauty products to prevent harmful microorganisms from developing and to prolong the shelf life of formulas.
Elixi-KON OC is also used as a cosmetic ingredient that helps cleansing the skin or preventing odor by destroying or inhibiting the growth of microorganisms.
Prior to application, a pre-mix based on Elixi-KON OC and a suitable solvent such as Elixi-KON PHE (Phenoxyethanol), Elixi-CARE PDO (1,3-Propanediol) or various other glycols is recommended. The mixture can be added before or after the emulsification process.
Elixi-KON OC, o-Cymen-5-ol, is suitable for conditions where higher temperatures (e.g. at 80° C) occur.
Higher pH level than 9 should be avoided.

According to the EU list of preservatives allowed in cosmetic products (Annex V), the maximum concentration allowed for Elixi-KON OC, o-Cymen-5-ol, is 0.1 %.
