4-Hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-piperidinooxy
4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinoxyl is used as a catalyst for the oxidation of alcohols to the corresponding aldehydes and chemical oxidant and as a polymerisation inhibitor, particularly during the purification of styrene. 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinoxyl appears as an orange-red flake and is soluble in water, ethanol, benzene and other organic solvents.
