Contex P water-insoluble Polyalkylene Glycols (PAG)

Contex P series are a range of propylene oxide (PO) homo-polymers manufactured to provide a various viscosity range. Contex P series feature high viscosity indices, low pour points, clean burn properties, are water insoluble. The special characteristics of Contex P series make them an excellent choice when manufacturing and formulating various water insoluble lubricants.

Applications

  • Gear lubricant

The high load bearing properties of Contex P series make them suitable for use as a gear lubricant base-stock, particularly in formulating worm gear lubricants.

  •  Calender lubricants

Contex P series have a good heat transfer characteristics, they can be used as heating oil for calendar bowls and as a base-stock for paper and plastic calendar lubricants.

  •  Compressor lubricants

Contex P series can be used as compressor fluids when working with non-oxidizing gases such as ethylene, neon, helium, and argon.

In high temperature applications where decomposition can occur, Contex P series typically do not leave black carbon or sticky residues. The decomposition products are volatile or are solubilized into the base-stock. Oxidation stability can be improved by the inclusion of antioxidants. In addition the Contex P seriesfromP75 upwards are FDA approved under 21 CFR 178.3570 (Incidental contact with food) and can therefore be used in instances where the potential for food contamination exists.

The Contex P series can be used neat or as an emulsion in water. Furthermore the Contex P series offer the advantage of being biodegradable in neat products. They are water insoluble and exhibit miscibility in a wide range of hydrocarbon solvents and oils. For this reason Contex P series can be used in other applications including:

  • Plasticizer / Chemical Intermediate
  • Mold release agents
  • Chemical Intermediate
  • Greases
