Meldrum Acid
Description
Meldrum’s acid is a highly versatile organic intermediate widely used in fine chemical synthesis, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and specialty chemicals. Due to its activated methylene group, it is particularly reactive in condensation and substitution reactions.
It is commonly employed in carbon–carbon bond formation, heterocycle synthesis and as a precursor for substituted malonic acid derivatives.
