Oxalic acid anhydrous
Oxalic acid is a white crystalline solid, mainly used as a reducing agent for the production of drugs such as antibiotics and many other API’s.
Applications
Well known applications for pharmaceuticals API’s of Oxalic acid anhydrous are:
- Adaprolol: beta blocker
- Oxycodone: Opioid medication
- Telaprevir: treatment of hepatitis C
- Tibolone: used in hormonal therapy, it is a synthetic steroid drug with estrogenic, progestogenic, and weak androgenic actions.
- Verapamil: used to treat coronary and heart diseases
- Dexamethasone 17-valerate: which is a glucocorticoid that is used as an anti-inflammatory agent.
- Tyloxapol: It is an active ingredient used in several an expectorant designated for inhalation and instillation.
- Droxidopa: It is a prodrug of norepinephrine used to increase the concentrations of these neurotransmitters in the body and brain.
- Valsartan: is a medication used to treat high blood pressure, heart failure, and diabetic kidney disease.
Oxalic Acid is also used in the food industry to synthesize L-Carvone, naturally present in many essential oils and plants (most abundant in caraway and spearmint).
Another interesting application is in the synthesis of Nicotinic Acid (Niacin/Vitamin B3), widely used in cosmetic, food and Pharma industries
